How often should you have your carpets cleaned?  A question that takes a little thought.
The carpet manufacture recommends you clean every 6 to 18 months depending on use.  Your higher traffic areas you want to clean more frequently and of course your less traffic areas clean less.  In my own home I’m cleaning the family room hall and stairs almost every 4 months and the bedrooms in the 18 month range.  You want to have your carpets cleaned on a regular basis before your carpets look like they need to be cleaned.  If your carpets are looking dirty, there’s enough soil in them to start causing damage and creating more wear than necessary.

Another factor in regular cleaning is that your carpets are the largest filter in your house.  Imagine how often you dust or how dirty you’re a/c filter gets.  There’s a lot of dirt in the air that settles on the floor then gets ground in with foot traffic, the carpets hold on soil in the air and don’t let it fly around as much as hard surface do.  So just like you change you’re a/c filters clean your carpets on a regular basis to help keep your carpets looking good longer.
